The Halal and Haram Distinction Development Initiative (HDI), formerly the Halal Certification Authority (HCA), has officially launched its online Certification Portal, marking a major step in the organization's digital transformation.

The portal allows companies to register, apply for certification, submit required documents, track the progress of their application, and download their certificate — all in one seamless online process. This eliminates much of the manual back-and-forth previously involved in the certification process, making it faster and more accessible for businesses across Nigeria and beyond.

The launch was officially announced during HDI's 5th International Halal Seminar, held on August 19, 2026, at NECA House, Alausa, Ikeja, further reinforcing the organization's commitment to innovation, transparency, and global standards in Halal certification.

The portal was developed by VillageCoders in partnership with HDI.

Companies interested in Halal certification can now begin their application directly at hdiportal.com. A user's guide is also available on the portal to help applicants navigate each step of the process.
